Case Studies

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Left Cervical Radiculopathy

A female nurse in her early 60’s was referred for bilateral Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Left Cervical radiculopathy (pinched nerves in her neck radiating down into her Left arm). She had been experiencing worsening symptoms of both for 14 years. With John F Barnes Myofascial Release treatment and a home program of MFR stretching and self-rx using 4 inch sport ball, she reported being symptom free after 22 visits and avoided recommended MRI and surgery.

Scoliosis

A female college student in her early 20s was referred for Scoliosis; she had been in a brace up until the prior year. She came to Wild Grace Wellness Center for two 10-week sessions over two summer breaks for 1-2 visits per week for John F Barnes Myofascial Release (MFR) treatment and postural re-education. With these interventions and a home program consisting of MFR stretching and self-rx using 4 inch sport ball and foam roller, she presented with an 8 degree improvement of her scoliotic curvature and was told by her doctor at her follow up visit that she didn’t need to come back for her 2 year follow up, but could wait for her 5 year one instead.

Fibromyalgia

A 75 year old retired female with dx of Fibromyalgia (FM) for duration of 29 years was referred to Wild Grace for MFR and aquatic therapy. Within 17 visits, she demonstrated improvements in both the physical and emotional components of her fibromyalgia symptoms to degree that she demonstrated a change from being rated with Severe FM down to Mild FM.
